As you might have read early this week, China has banned Lead Paint in Toys Exported to United States. Adding to this great news, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and its Chinese counterpart, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) have Announced the Agreement To Improve The Safety of Imported Toys and Other Consumer Products.
All we can say is IT’S ABOUT TIME!
Again, US Recall News would like to thank all of our readers who sent letters into their congresspeople demanding that the US government do something about this. The major piece missing in this agreement, however, is accountability by the US companies who import goods from China and other overseas production facilities without adequately testing the safety of their own products. Until that happens, and as long as we keep seeing dangerous products make their way onto shopping center shelves, the battle must go on.
These two recent developments are certainly big steps in the right direction.
