Tropical Valley Foods: Undeclared Allergens In Chocolate and Trail Mix Products Sold In Bulk

Tropical Valley Foods is alerting customers that because of a label error, Dark Chocolate, Organic Dark Chocolate and Trail Mix items which were sold in bulk quantities contain undeclared allergens. Consumers who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat, soy or tree nuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The following products are included in the recall:

The products were shipped to distributors and retailers in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Quebec City, Hong Kong and Dubai UAE.

This recall was initiated after an FDA inspection found that our bulk labels for Dark Chocolate, Organic Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate and Trail Mix bulk items had undeclared allergen information on our bulk labels. We have initiated a recall of the bulk and partial bulk products which were shipped from Tropical Valley Foods during the time frame of 09/26/2011 through 09/25/12.

There have been no illnesses reported in connection with this. Customers who purchased these products may return to the store for the correct allergy information. Consumers with questions may contact Tropical Valley Foods at (518)-314-7162. Monday – Friday; 9:00 am – 5:00 pm EST.
