Tectron Int. recalled over 55,000 of their 3-in-1 USB phone charger, as the charger can overheat during use and thereby pose a fire hazard.
The company received 2 reports of the USB charger melting while in use, but no injuries or property damage have yet occurred. Users are encouraged to contact Tectron directly for more information concerning the recall.
The recalled 3-in-1 USB charging cables are for use with the iPhone4S/4G/3GS/3G, iPhone5, iPad mini/iPad4 and android phones. The 10-foot white cord has a USB plug on one end, and opposite end has 3 plugs: 30-pin plug for the iPad First Generation and iPhone 4S and earlier models; Lightning plug for the iPhone5 and later models and the iPad 2 and later models; and mini USB plug. The cable comes in a transparent sealed pouch. Item NO. USB29B is printed on label on the outside of the pouch. The cords were obtained from distributors for school fundraisers July to August 2014 for around $3.50.
