Recalled Heaters – Legacy Propane Heater Recall

December 24, 2005 By E. Sizemore 7 Comments

CPSC, CFM Corporation Announce Recall of Legacy Propane Infrared Plaque Heaters
The CFM Corporation of Mississauga, Ontario – Canada is cooperating with the CPSC in recalling the Legacy Propane Infrared Plaque Heaters, which were sold by many hardware stores and HVAC dealers in the United States in 2005.

Over 10,000 of the Legacy Propane Infrared Plaque Heaters are being recalled because of a problem with a gasket, which could cause carbon monoxide leaks.

So far there have been no injuries or property damage reported as a result of this propane heater model, but consumers are asked to contact the CFM Corporation at 866-333-4833, or visit www.cfmcorp.com for more information on how to return the recalled heaters.

Manufacturer: Chant Kitchen Equipment, of Guandong, China

The following models are being recalled: RMC-LI6LP, RMC-LI10LP, RMC-LI18LPT-F, RMC-LI30LP-F, RMC-LI30LPT-F, and RMC-LI18LP-F. The model number is located on the right side panel of the unit. All of the heaters were listed by the Canadian Standards Association, and manufactured by Chant Kitchen Equipment in Guandong, China.

Consumers are advised to stop using these heaters immediately, and contact CFM via the contact information above.

We bought one of your propane gas wall heaters on 1-6-10 and I was looking on the computer and found the model number on a recall list. I need to know if this model # RMC-LI18LPT-F is one that has been recalled. We don’t want to install it in our house if it is bad.

Could you please left me know today, if I need to return it to the store. We have some bad weather moving in and we need to get one installed.

    Thank you,
    Esther Sowder

I just brought a Legacy heater at a garage sale with the model number RMC-LC3LPTL and serial number 0401661. My question is , Is this unit safe to use, or is this a recall item, and if it is a recall, then please let me know what I should do. Thank you very much sincerely, Larry
