The FDA said on Monday that over 100 reports of a rare fungal infection had been reported in connection with the ReNu with MoistureLoc line of contact lens cleaner products from Bausch & Lomb to the Center for Disease Control from 17 US States.
This infection may result in blindness or partial loss of vision, according to the FDA.
Neither the FDA or Bausch & Lomb have recalled the products, although the largest drugstore chain in America is temporarily pulling the entire line of Bausch & Lomb ReNu contact lens products off their shelves.
According to a Reuters news report, the FDA has not yet established a direct link between the Fusarium fungus and the ReNu contact lens product line.
