GM is recalling over 850,000 vehicles due to a short-circuiting heated windshield wiper fluid system that could cause fire.
In a press release Friday the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said other electrical systems may also malfunction, create smoke, or cause an odor.
Included in this recall are GM vehicles with the heated windshield wiper fluid system:
– 2007-2008 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, and Escalade EXT
– 2007-2008 Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, Avalanche, and Suburban
– 2007-2008 GMC Acadia, Sierra, Yukon, and Yukon XL
– 2007-2008 Saturn Outlook
– 2006-2008 Buick Lucerne
– 2006-2007 Cadillac DTS

If you own one of these vehicles you are advised to contact your local GM dealership to have the problem fixed with the installation of a free wire harness with an in-line fuse.
