The FDA today announced a $2 Million seizure of “potentially harmful” cosmetic eye products sold by Jan Marini Skin Research Inc., of San Jose, CA under the brand name Age Intervention Eyelash.
According to the FDA, Age Intervention Eyelash may lead to vision loss. This is especially dangerous with patients using certain prescription drug bimatoprost because Age Intervention Eyelash contains bimatoprost and the double-dosage increases the risk of optic nerve damage.
Bimatoprost is an active ingredient in drugs that treats patients with pressure buildup inside the eye. If you are taking eye medication of any kind, and have also taken Age Intervention Eyelash, have your eyes checked immediately for ocular nerve damage and/or vision degradation.
If you still have Age Intervention Eyelash you are advised to discard the product immediately and consult a doctor if you have experienced any side-effects, pain or vision loss.
Age Intervention Eyelash is considered by the FDA to be an unapproved and misbranded drug. Jan Marini Skin Research promoted Age Intervention Eyelash to increase eyelash growth but failed to show the treatment to be safe and effective, according to FDA standards. This may be considered negligence on the part of this company and you should consult with an attorney AFTER seeing your doctor if you have used this product. There is a contact form on the left of this page that will put you in touch with a lawyer in your general area for a risk-free case evaluation.
We do not believe in frivolous lawsuits because they drive up insurance costs and end up coming out of the tax payers pockets. But if a company claims that a product does something that it has not proved true, and that product causes serious and/or permanent damage to one’s health, that company should be held responsible for their actions and negligence through the legal system.

Will Revitalash be next?

I’ve heard Revitalash has a lot of the same ingredients as Jan Marino used, and quite possibly the bad one.
You could try Keracyte instead. It’s formulation is very gentle yet effective.
Keracyte is actually a scalp conditioner that stimulates the hair follicles to produce thicker and stronger hairs in the person’s natural color. It’s been very successful for that, and then women started using it on their eyelashes to see if it would help. They just applied a dab of the product with a Qtip across the part of their eyelid where the lashes grow, and voila. Many of them saw success with darker and thicker / longer lashes.
I might give it a try because I am sick of globbing on tons of mascara before I leave the house!
