Seoul Shik Poom Inc. of Anywhere, NJ is recalling its 2.2 lb packages of “Honey Jujube Teas” because they may contain undeclared sulfites. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to Sulfites run the risk of serious allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled “Honey Jujube Teas” were distributed nationwide in retail stores.
The product comes in 2.2 lb, clear glass jar marked with code # TC1607 and UPC CODES: 0761898630358 on the label and with an expiration date of 08/13/2009, 11/26/2009, 05/26/2010, 08/18/2010, 10/02/2010, 01/15/2011, 03/09/2011 stamped on the top cover.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the sulfites containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of sulfites. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes.
Production of the product has been suspended until FDA and the company are certain that the problem has been corrected.
Consumers who have purchased 2.2 lb packages of “Honey Jujube Teas” are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-201-567-7780, Monday to Friday between 8:00am to 5:00pm.
