OF BROOKLYN, NY, IS RECALLING ITS BRIGHTON BEACH CANDY BECAUSE IT MAY CONTAIN UNDECLARED WALNUTS.  PEOPLE WHO HAVE AN ALLERGY TO WALNUTS RUN THE RISK OF SERIOUS OR LIFE-THREATENING ALLERGIC REACTION IF THEY CONSUME THIS PRODUCT.
THE BRIGHTON BEACH CANDY WAS DISTRIBUTED TO RETAIL STORES, DELIS AND RESTAURANTS LOCATED IN NEW YORK, MASSACHUSETTS, PENNSYLVANIA, MARYLAND, MICHIGAN, OHIO, AND CALIFORNIA FROM DECEMBER 2008 TO DATE.  THE PRODUCT WAS ALSO SOLD TO ONE CUSTOMER IN CANADA.
THE CANDY IS INDIVIDUALLY FOIL WRAPPED AND WAS DISTRIBUTED IN 10 POUND BOXES.  THE CANDY DOES NOT HAVE ANY LOT CODES, UPC CODE, OR EXPIRATION DATES.
ONE ILLNESS COMPLAINT WAS RECEIVED BY THE US FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION.
THE RECALL WAS INITIATED AFTER IT WAS CONFIRMED BY FDA ANALYSIS THAT THE BRIGHTON BEACH CANDY CONTAINED FRAGMENTS OF WALNUTS IN THE PRODUCT, AND THE PRODUCT LABELING FAILED TO DECLARE WALNUTS.  THE FIRM HAS CEASED PRODUCTION OF THIS CANDY.
CONSUMERS WHO HAVE PURCHASED GOLDEN CHOCOLATE BRIGHTON BEACH CANDY ARE URGED TO RETURN IT TO THE PLACE OF PURCHASE FOR A FULL REFUND.  CONSUMERS WITH QUESTIONS MAY CONTACT THE COMPANY AT 1-718-330-1000, MONDAY – FRIDAY 9 AM – 5 PM EDT.
