The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with American Greetings Corp. of Cleveland, Ohio, is recalling about 60,000 DesignWare Confetti Bursts because the surface paint on the individual bags of confetti contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. No injuries have been reported thus far.
The recalled products contain confetti in plastic bags. When the bags are inflated, consumers squeeze the bag and confetti bursts out. Each package contains six confetti bursts. The recalled products were manufactured in China and were sold in stores nationwide between December 2003 and September 2007.
