We Did It! Today China signed an agreement that prohibits the use of lead paint on toys exported to the United States.
Thanks to everyone who put pressure on your congresspeople to in turn put pressure on the Chinese government. What role that might have played in this is unknowable, but I’m just happy that something is being done.
In addition to this, the Toy Industry Association is working with the independent American National Standards Institute to come up with procedures for toy makers and testing laboratories to use to certify that toys meet all mandatory US safety standards.
