Over 10,000 Kayak and Watersports Storage Hanger/Fabric Hanger Straps, manufactured by Attwood, have been recalled. The length adjustment buckles release unexpectedly, causing the item being stored to fall and injure people nearby.
No injuries have yet been reported. However, use of the recalled storage hangers should be stopped immediately and consumers can return them to Attwood or the store where the item was purchased for a full refund or replacement.
This recall concerns about 10,000 kayak and watersports storage hangers sold as a pair of blue and black fabric straps that measure approximately 1 inch wide and 84 inches long when unbuckled. The straps include a plastic snap buckle to adjust the length and a plastic-coated steel S-hook attachment for hanging. Model number 11917-6 is located on the back of the retail package near the barcode. They were obtained from Walmart, Mills Farm Fleet stores, marine dealers nationwide and online at Walmart.com from January 2014 to July 2014 for about $15.
