Is Tylenol going to refund or replace the drops we have already bought? These things are not cheap and we should be reimbursed.

Luckily the one we have on hand is not on the recall list. I can say the customer service representative was very helpful and knowledgeable. It was an almost 10 minute wait, but their representative was helpful and comforting.

Refund on recalls – I called Tylenol and they said to check the products you have at home against their UPC Code recall list. If you have one of the products on the list, call Tylenol back and let them know. They will send you a coupon for another bottle of Tylenol.

I’m cheap, too. Target brand is exactly what we have been using. I know some off-brand drugs are still made by the name-brand manufacturer. I wonder if this is the case for Target infant’s Tylenol.

I have two bottles of infant drops that fall into the categories listed above. How do I know when they were manufactured? I have lot#s and exp. dates but thats it. I wish they would provide that information. Otherwise how would we know? I don’t have a UPC either because I tossed out the boxes.

Commenting on Teisha’s remark from Sep. 24th: “this is bad when the medicine we give our children for colds can make them sicker! my children have already had a cold this year and we have tylenol the bubble yum flavor.so what can we do to get a refund or a coupon for a new bottle thanks alot!”

Not to pick on Teisha, but in the same breath she laments on how the medicines seem to be making our kids sicker, not better AND then asks how she can get a coupon fro a new bottle…

Maybe we all should be rethinking if all the medicines we stuff into our kids are really necessary. Is it worth cutting a day or two off a cold if giving our kids contaminated medicines is possibly the price?

If this recall is like all the others, it will be the stores paying the price, and not the company. The majority of recalled products require stores to refund the purchase price, but there is no reimbursement for the stores. Many recalls, if the manufacturer offers anything to the stores in return, is just a fraction of what it costs to put it on the shelves, and is so time consuming and/or costly to the merchants they don’t bother. My family owns a small grocery business, and we have been hit hard by recalls such as this. I’m not saying people shouldn’t be returning the recalled items, but it seems as though there should be better financial reimbursement by those at fault.

Look at the bottle of tylenol and you will see EXP: and LOT:

You need to check the lot number to make sure it is not one of them listed. It is very easy to do. You don’t need the box to check the info, it is marked on the bottle itself.

From what i have learned working for 3 pharmacies: store brands are required to have the equal ingredients as the comparable brand to be stated that they are comparable to Tylenol or Ibprofen or whatever the product may be. My guess is the only way the store brands would be affected by this recall would be if they were manufactured in the same facility as tylenol and I don’t think they would be, most labels i have seen have said that it’s not manufactured by the makers of the name brand.
Also: bottles of medicine have to be clearly labeled of the expiration date, as well as the lot number. The lot number is the code for the manufacture of when the product was produced. If you find the product you own on the list look to the left and see if your lot number is there.
Tylenol is going to have a lot of correcting to do and that is why the recall is being stated….

In response to Ianie’s question re the “Equate” brand of Tylenol, I would like to know the answer to that as well; I have eight grandchildren with a ninth on the way, and their parents usually use store-brands to save a bit of money. How about it, Tylenol–should we be concerned about any store-brands also manufactured by you?

Tylenol is being absolutely redicilous about this! The above people are very correct – they will not even take your call. A computer tells you to check the website and hangs up on you. Hopefully the store will refund the meds! I can’t say I’ll be buying tylenol brand again! Mostly due to the very poor customer service.

I LOVE that although my infant Tylenol product is one of those that was recalled, the number is either busy or states to call back due to high call volume. Then when you do get through, states to see the website for information, which has no instructions as to how to go about the reimbursement process, and is where I got the number in the first place! I guess they figure you’ll stop caring about the $7 and give up if they waste enough of your time. I lost my job due to the recession at the end of January, and don’t have the heart to just waste money while a corporate giant makes more. They know they have us though if it’s what the pediatrician recommends for your child. So frustrating and such TERRIBLE disregard for the customer! Uggh! :o(

You know what everybody…. Things happen… I am the mother of 3 and they all just got over the swine flu, so they have been useing the tylonal flu. I am sure the reason you cant get through to the company is because there are milloins of people just like you calling at the same time. CALM DOWN!!! If your child is showing symtoms and has been taking the meds, then call the doctor, and you will probably have a law suit, but nothing is going to happen instantly. Also, alot of the questions asked were answered by someone from the company earlier in the thread… if you are so concerned then read!!!! Just stop and think for a minuet about things…. look how far technology has brought us with meds and cures, at one time, haroin was a cough medician!!!!

Who cares about a damn refund, this product is probably mostly used up. Do you keep the box or the bottles of used product?????? If it was manufactured over a year and a half ago, you can bet there was probably a bottle sitting in my cabinet that got used, God forbid. Why do they wait so long to tell people???????? Why aren’t they held accountable even for the delay? Why isn’t our government and FDA regulating this stuff and watching out for people and I am not talking about saying OOOOPS 2 YEARS LATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a drug-free tip for flu prevention. If you’re around young kids, I have a key prevention tip: My child came home from school the other day saying that they learned to cough and sneeze into their elbow with Germy Wormie, and I was totally taken aback. I always covered with my hands. But I went to the website and now I get it, hands touch, elbows don’t!! Kids can touch 300 surfaces in 1/2 hour and they hate to wash their hands. This is a simple thing that can make a huge difference. Also, there is a DVD the kids love, and it teaches them in a fun way other necessary hygiene habits, as well as the elbow cough.

What do you do if your child already took the tylenol that’s been contaminated? I checked the lot #s and one matches a bottle that I was giving my son for a fever.

Cannot call the phone number being given out for Tylenol as they are receiving too many calls, so no calls being answered. Thats ok, except the alternative is being directed to go to the http://www.tylenol.com web site, but that site only has the information you show on your web site………call the 1-800 number. Now what?

My story is a little different from the rest of yours, but I really want to share it. On the morning of Sept.14th I got up in the morning to check on our son Zander and I found him in his crib already gone. I had given him a dose of Infant tylenol at 3:30pm the afternoon before and another dose at 8:30pm. We aren’t sure if this recall has anything to do with it, but its been on my heart from the beginning and I can’t seem to let it go. I finished up an already opened bottle of tylenol and then gave him some out of the other one. I did just look up what they said was the raw unfinised product within the tylenol and its B. Cepacia Bacteria. I’ve looked that up as well, and I don’t like what I’m reading. Not sure if this is just a coincidence or not. We still don’t have anything back yet from the tox. testing, but we will be calling them tomorrow morning with the information that I just found out.

Thanks so much for your kind words, we are hoping for some closure as well. We just called the Dr.s office this morning to let him know about what we found and hope that they will be testing for this. The pain stinks and the hole is huge, but we are trying to fill it up with God & the Holy Spirit.

Thanks mothers for all your comments and concerns from one mom to the next. It is very scary as my son cannot take motrin due to allergic reaction. But even if u don’t have the boxes the Lot#s are on the bottles itself. Looks like most of the recalls are SBM’s; SCM’s; and SDM’s follow by the three digit numbers. Try to remember that when buying your tylenols. Nadea and others sorry for your lost. Can’t imagine what u going thru; hope u find peace and closure after the toxicology report.

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT MY CHILDREN HAVE BEEN TAKEN LIQUID TYLENOL FOR YEARS. TO NOT BE AWARE OF THIS MATTER WAS ONLY ABOUT KEEPING MONEY, FOR THEMSELVES. HOW IS IT NOW A RECALL ON SOMETHING THAT’S BEEN AROUND BEFORE I WAS BORN? THIS WORLD IS FULL OF CRAPPY PEOPLE THAT ONLY CARES ABOUT MONEY. WE’LL GOD SAID YOU CAN’T TAKE MONEY TO YOUR GRAVE. MY KIDS REJECTED THAT MEDICINE SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST, BUT I MADE THEM TAKE IT. THIS IS NOT A FAIR PROBLEM TO WOMEN AROUND THE WORLD WITH KIDS MAN……..

McNeil is using the NDC number to indentidy the recalled product. That number is autually of the FRONT of the bottle above the product name.

I have been using tylenol & motrin for years. My son is six years old and since November/2008 everytime he gets a cold he vomits frequently. I always was told that is was just mucous but now I wonder if it was the medicine. He also was frequently prescribed benadryl for eczema. Just this year in the past six months he has had either strep throat or ear infections every month where he is running high fever complaining of dizziness & vomiting. He also has been getting rashes on his face. I checked medicines in the cabinet that he had been taking & both were part of the recall & with the this most recent episode last week he was complaining of leg pain I gave him tylenol (part of the recall) 2 days later he was diagnosed with thrush & strep throat.

Ok so here’s the deal with what’s going on with the products that i have, i guess i own a couple of products being recalled and here they are…

    *Childrens Motrin Grape Flavor 4oz. NDC 50580-603-04 Lot# ADM076 EXP 04/12

*Children’s Tylenol Plus Cough and Runny Nose Cherry 4oz. NDC 50580-249-04 Lot# ACM110 EXP 03/11

    *Children’s Tylenol Fever Reducer/Pain Reliever Dye-Free Cherry 4oz.
    NDC 50580-166-04 LOT# ADM085 EXP. 04/11

i really hope this helps at least some of you i went to the McNeil website. and i found this out. Now im really concerned because my son is sick right now and i WAS giving him these 3 products i was alternating to lower his fever i didnt know what to give him so i found these really cool patches called Be Kool and im hoping they work! . Well anyway try the website above it’s really helpful BUT just put in the NDC numbers if u put any type of letter before it will say they are not being recalled and that could be a problem.. there is also a link where u can ask for a product cupon or a product refund if that’s of any help haha.. i personally asked for a full refund hoping that my son doesnt get any worst (fingers crossed)
