I HAVE A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH A DEFECT WITH THE BLEND DOORS FOR THE HEATER. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR A FEW MODEL YEARS. YET I HAVE TO LAY OUT ABOUT $600.00 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE DEFROSTERS WON’T CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD DURING THE WINTER MONTHS. WHY WASN’T A RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM?
Had the same problem. Cost me just over $700 to get the problem fixed. My problem wasn’t the blend doors (apparantly the previous owner had them fixed) but in the same vent system – the fan door broke off & was blocking the air flow from the fan plus it was letting in ouside air unrestricted. Went round & round with Chrysler trying to get them to reimburse me but that kept saying ‘NO’. The dealer stated that they always keep various ventilation doors in stock because the design is poor. The the Fed took them over and all my contacts were gone. TThe ventilation system design is a safety issue just like stated above.
I too have had a problem with my blend air doors. I have been without heat in my Jeep for years due to the cost associated in the repair. I was quoted $1200.00 to have this problem fixed. It happened 3 1/2 years after buying the jeep new. Why is there not a recall on this? This seems to be a profusely widespread problem. I was stopped last week by the police because I was unable to see a sign that stated no left turns during certain hours. I was unable to see the sign due to the inability to use the defroster. This has got to be a safety issue.
My 2002 jeep started with no heat to one side, now on both. I was told it was my blend doors and am awaiting an estimate . Seems to be a common known problem. Has anyone had any luck getting dealer to pay for the fix?
