Springfield, MO – Bass Pro Shops® is voluntarily recalling one lot of Uncle Buck’s® Beer Batter Mix Lightly-Seasoned as a precautionary measure because the product was received from a supplier that used crushed black pepper that may have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. The product is packaged in a yellow canister with product label and the code date can be found on the bottom of the canister.
Bass Pro Shops® has taken these steps following announcements from a supplier that the product was manufactured with crushed black pepper distributed by Mincing Overseas Spice Company. The pepper has been recalled by Mincing because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
This product was distributed in Bass Pro Shops® stores nationwide, on basspro.com and at select retailers.
Bass Pro Shops® requests that customers who have purchased this product destroy it or return it to the nearest Bass Pro Shops®

The Uncle Buck’s Beer Batter-Lightly Seasoned Mix has not been linked to any illnesses but proceed to the FDA web-site www.fda.gov2 for updated information. No other Uncle Buck’s products are being recalled or are affected by this recall.
