Olympic Mountain Products has recalled over 232, 000 Tealight Wax Warmer sets in the U.S. and Canada. The warmers cause the tealights to burn with a high and or erratic flame when in use, posing a burn or fire hazard.
The company has already received 22 reports of tealights with larger-than-usual flames, including two minor burn injuries to consumers and one incident resulting in minor property damage. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the warmer sets and return them to Costco for a full refund. Costco is already contacting its customers directly.
This recall concerns Olympic Mountain Products ceramic tealight warmer sets that include four tealight candles, four sets of scented wax cubes for melting, and a ceramic warmer with a metal stand and a glass dish to hold the wax cubes. The ceramic warmers are white with a green glass dish or brown with an orange glass dish for the wax cubes. “Essenza” is printed on the front of the packaging and Costco item number #852473 is printed on the sides of the packaging. The sets were obtained from Costco Wholesale stores nationwide August 2014 t0 October 2014. Average price was about $20.
