It has been determined that these products have a pH and a water activity level that is too high and could be a possible health hazard. With these high levels, it is possible for Clostridium botulism sickness. Use of these products may cause the following symptoms: Onset of symptoms in foodborne botulism is usually 18 to 36 hours after ingestion of the food containing the toxin, although cases have varied from 4 hours to 8 days. Early signs of intoxication consist of marked lassitude, weakness and vertigo, usually followed by double vision and progressive difficulty in speaking and swallowing. Difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distention, and constipation may also be common symptoms.
The recalled Sweet Potato Butter and Pumpkin Butter were sold to distributors and retailers in the following states: AL. AZ, AR, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, MN, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NY, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, VT, VA, WA, WV, WI, WY.
Any consumer that has this product should return the product to the store of purchase or destroy this product.
