Ford has recalled certain 2010 Escape, Fusion and Milan models made between February 27 and March 26, 2010 due to a problem with the park rod guide retention pen.
When the vehicle is parked without a working park pawl, and without engaging the parking brake, it may have “unintended movement,” which could cause a crash.
The park rod guide retention pin may not have been properly installed in these vehicles, which fails to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards involving theft protection and rollaway prevention.
Ford is notifying owners with information on how to have the vehicle repaired by a Ford dealership. In the meantime, you can contact the Ford Motor Company customer relations hotline at 1-866-436-7332. Representatives are available during business hours.
