The drug companies do not want you to know about the dangerous and deadly side effects their products can cause.
They don’t want information in your face that gives you the “aha!” moment of connecting what happened to you with taking their drugs. And they definitely don’t want you to know you can make them pay for the harms and financial losses you have suffered at their hands.
To that end, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is trying to restrict attorney advertising that warns consumers about dangerous drugs, and it is mounting its campaign under the guise of public safety.
Don’t Be Fooled
The Chamber’s Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) says it wants restrictions on attorney advertising because it believes that “lawyers are scaring people out of taking their meds.” An op-ed, by ILR president Lisa Rickard, published in the Washington Post, comes across as a cry for public health and safety.
What it fails to mention is that the ILR is not a consumer advocacy group, but a powerful lobbying organization that works for the pharmaceutical companies and other large corporations with specific goal of protecting them from legal action by the consumers they have harmed. Yes, that means you.
If you or someone you love has been harmed by a dangerous medication, please talk to an experienced defective drug attorney right away to learn more about your rights and potential compensation.
