Today the California Department of Public Health announced that a 51-year-old woman from San Diego has a confirmed case of botulism. The woman claims to have eaten a can of Kroger Chile with Beans prior to getting sick.
Kroger Chile with Beans was on the list of canned food recalls from Castleberry Food and the CDPH is now investigating a possible connection between this confirmed botulism case and the recalled canned food products.
Dr. Mark Horton, Director of the CDPH told reporters in a statement: “The confirmed case of botulism poisoning in San Diego reminds us of the serious health risk posed by this toxin. Californians should remain vigilant about not consuming the recalled products. If you have the recalled product, discard it immediately.”
