After the largest crib recall in history, the third in as many years, another child is dead after slipping into the gap caused by faulty design in a Graco crib/bassinet.In this case, the child got caught between the rail of the bassinet and the mattress, a gap that should never be present, and one that all parents should check for after assembling their cribs or bassinets. The child slid slowly down until her torso was too constricted for her to breathe.
This is the fourth death related to the Graco cribs, all of which were related to a gap in the crib between the rail and the mattress leading to asphyxiation. However, this newest death occurred in a crib model No. 3112DOH, one that was not a part of the previous recalls. The crib is still being sold at Wal-Mart, Target, and online. If you purchased this model crib, you should check to make sure it is properly assembled, and if a gap exists that might threaten your child, seek to return the crib.
