Did Cardinal Distributing Poison Your Child for Profit?

If you think that all of the recalls we list are just innocent little mistakes, think again. Sometimes companies knowingly endanger us, our pets and our children to make a quick buck... or even a quick .25 cents.

Cardinal Distributing was ordered by the Consumer Product Safety commission in 2004 to pull their Children's Rings with Dice or Horseshoes off the market because they contained enough lead to poison the children using them. These are the tacky little things you can buy in vending machines for a quarter.

So what does this company do? They pull them off the market long enough for the CPCS to turn their backs and then they put the EXACT SAME RINGS back into circulation. If I were a cursing man the following would look very different: Ufreakingbelievable!

These cheap little trinkets were made in India. Why worry about terrorism when countries like India and China are openly flooding our economy with, cheap, lethal goods?

This makes me sick to my stomach to even write about. So instead of writing more, I'll just send you to the CPSC website where you can learn all about the recall.

By the way, I hope this company gets sued to kingdom come. This is what personal injury lawyers call taking lead-filled toys from a baby.

Recalled Shelhigh Implantable Medical Devices

The FDA has seized all implantable medical devices from Shelhigh, Inc.. These devices were used in many types of surgeries, including open heart surgery, neurosurgery and abdominal, pelvic and thoracic surgery.

The recalled Shelhigh implants are a danger due to deficiencies in the manufacturing process that may compromise sterility and cause infection leading to serious injury or death. Critically ill, pediatric, and geriatric patients - and those with poorly functioning immune systems - are particularly at risk.

According to the Shelhigh website, "The Shelhigh proprietary No-React® Tissue Detoxification process has revolutionized the biological tissue and valve marketplace. Our No-React process effectively resists infection..."

Obviously, that is an inaccurate statement.

Shelhigh products include a range of biological tissues and valves, in the Aortic, Mitral and Pulmonic categories, including tricuspid, semi-stented, and stentless valves, valve repair systems, annuloplasty rings, pulmonic valve systems, valved conduits and tissue patches.

Doctors should stop using the recalled Shelhigh devices immediately, and screen patients who have received ANY Shelhigh implant for infections, and ensure that the device is functioning properly

Patients who think they may have received a Shelhigh device during surgery should contact their physician for more information. If indeed they were given a Shelhigh implantable device, they should see the doctor immediately and get checked for infections, and to ensure that the device is properly working.

Ford Truck Recall Alert for Trucks with Speed Control

Over 155,000 Ford trucks are being recalled by the Ford Motor Company, according to today's recall alert by the NHTSA.

Here are the models being recalled, all year 2003 Fords:

Ford E550 Trucks (2002 & 2003)
Ford Excursion SUV
Ford F-150 Trucks
Ford F250 Trucks
Ford F350 Trucks
Ford F450 Trucks
Ford F550 Trucks
Lincoln Blackwood Pickup Truck


On the models above, certain trucks equipped with speed control, gas or natural gas engines, the speed control deactivation switch may overheat. The overheating speed control switch could result in smoke that may impair the diver's ability to see, and/or cause a fire under the truck's hood.

What to do if you own one of these Ford trucks:
Immediately discontinue use of the speed control, and take your truck in to a Ford dealer. The dealer will install a fused wiring harness into the speed control system for free.

Pet Product Recall Update - Are Greenies Dog Treats Going to Be Recalled?

In a recent CNN story, it was revealed that at least 13 dogs have died after being fed "a greeny," which is the top-selling dog treat in America.

The Greenies brand dog treats can become stuck in a dog's throat or intestine where, according to some veterinarians, they do not break down properly for swallowing or digestion.

Despite the fact that Greenies are marketed and packaged as being easily digested, a veterinarian from Denver, Colorado told CNN "Certainly the ones that we've taken out, esophageal or intestinal, that have been in for days are still very hard".

At least one set of dog owners, Michael Eastwood and wife Jenny Reiff, have filed a lawsuit against Greenies. They will be taking the dog treat company to court for $5 million in New York, blaming Greenies for the death of their dog Burt.

ATV Recall Bonanza - Recalled Honda 4-Wheelers

They just don't make 'em like they used to. This is the fourth ATV recall we have posted about this month, each from different manufacturers.

This time Honda has recalled about 24,000 of their TRX 400EX Four-Wheelers because of a transmission problem that could allow the rider to downshift from 1st gear into reverse without using the reverse lockout lever.

Although no injuries have been reported, all Honda Model '05 and '06 TRX400EX ATVs are to be returned to the place of purchase for service. Consumers are advised to stop riding these ATV Fourwheelers immediately.
