Thomas the Train Toy Recall for Lead Poisoning Hazard

About 1.5 Million Thomas and Friends wooden railway toys have been recalled due to surface paints containing lead. As you may have already guessed, these wooden toy trains, buildings, vehicles and other parts were made in China.

Lead is toxic, and can be deadly when ingested by small children. As children often place small toys in their mouth, the Consumer Product Safety Commission is on constant lookout for toys containing lead and lead-based paints. We see at least two recalls every week involving potential lead poisoning. The products are made in China most of the time.
