Help With Your Holiday Shopping

Welcome to the US Recall Newsletter for November 27 - December 11. This issue is about helping you shop safely this holiday season. With all of the recalls going on, the question on every parent's mind is: What can I buy my child this Christmas? Below are a few options, along with some safety tips and information about other important recalls in the news.
Toys to Stay Away From

The first and most obvious type of toy to stay away from is anything that is listed here, as well as anything that looks cheaply made and was imported from China.

The second type of toy you need to avoid are magnet sets, or any toy that contains small magnets. These toys are often not put together well enough to handle the damage an average toddler can cause, thus exposing the inner workings of the toy (including magnets) to the inner workings of your child (such as their large intestine). More about this danger here.

Not that you should be able to find any on the shelves, but stay far, far away from Aquadots and Bindeez.

Last but not least, stay up-to-date by subscribing to our recalled consumer product feed, which will deliver straight to your custom Google homepage or favorite blog reader all of the daily recall updates we add to our CPSC section. Buying US-Made Toys
Giving your child a gift that was made right here in the USA not only helps our national economy, but it gives you peace of mind. The United States might not be doing a very good job of regulating what gets imported, but the Consumer Product Safety Commission and other agencies are very successful at ensuring the safety of products made within our borders.
