The first and most obvious type of toy to stay away from is anything that is
listed here, as well as anything that looks cheaply made and was imported from China.
The second type of toy you need to avoid are magnet sets, or any toy that contains small magnets. These toys are often not put together well enough to handle the damage an average toddler can cause, thus exposing the inner workings of the toy (including magnets) to the inner workings of your child (such as their large intestine).
