Battat Magnetic Sketchboards Recalled: Magnetic Pen Tip Choking Hazard

About 95,000 Toulouse-LapTrec magnetic sketchboards have been recalled because the tip of the magnetic drawing pen can come loose, which is a choking hazard for children.

The importer, Battat Inc., of Plattsburgh, NY, has received 19 reports of the magnetic tip separating from the pen, although no injuries have been reported. The toy was sold at Target and Barnes & Noble stores, as well as many online retailers, between fMarch 2010 and March 2011 for about $16.

Detailed Description: The recall involves the Toulouse-LapTrec magnetic sketchboards, which have white plastic writing surfaces bordered by red or brown plastic frames. The recalled sketchboards, similar to the popular Etch A Sketch toys, also has a bean bag pillow backing. It has four animal shapes across the top (dog, cat, duck, rabbit). The multicolored magnetic pen is attached to the front of the sketchpad.

Model numbers can be found on a paper wrapper that comes with the product at the time it was purchased. If you do not have this available, assume that any toy matching the description above is part of this recall for safety purposes. The red frame model number is BX1026, and the brown frame model number is BX1027.
