Ocean Spray Recalls Original Flavor Craisins Dried Cranberries

Ocean Spray has recalled some production lots of its Original Flavor Craisins® Dried Cranberries product in 5-ounce, 10-ounce and 48-ounce packages as well as bulk sweetened dried cranberries in 10-pound packages due to the possible presence of very small hair-like metal fragments.
Ocean Spray maintains that the metal fragments are unlikely to cause consumer injury. To date, they have not received any reports of consumer complaints relating to this recall and no injuries have been reported.

Caribbean Rum Balls of St. Thomas, VI, is issuing this alert due to undeclared allergens, specifically: wheat, coconut, milk, eggs and sodium bisulfite (preservative). Four Star Import & Distribution Inc. Issues An Alert On Uneviscerated Fish

Four Star Import & Distribution Inc, 1075 Flushing Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, 11237 is recalling Noya Brand Boyal Dry Fish discovered by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors during a routine inspection and subsequent analysis of the product by New York State Food Laboratory personnel confirming that the product was not properly eviscerated prior to processing.This product may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum spores, which can cause botulism, a serious and potentially fatal food–borne illness.The sale of this type of fish is prohibited under New York State Agriculture and Markets regulations because Clostridium botulinum spores are more likely to be concentrated in the viscera than any other portion of the fish. Uneviscerated fish has been linked to outbreaks of botulism poisoning; symptoms of botulism include blurred or double vision, general weakness, poor reflexes, difficulty swallowing and respiratory paralysis.The recalled Noya Brand Boyal Dry Fish comes in 200 gram plastic bags coded Best Before Dec. 2012 and is a product of Bangladesh.  Noya Brand Boyal Dry Fish was sold nationwide.No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. Motion Sensing Wall Switches Recalled by HeathCo due to Electrical Shock Hazard

HealthCo, LLC is recalling about 75,000 Heath® / Zenith and WirelessCommand® motion sensing wall switches because a small amount of leakage current passes through the electric circuit, including the socket, when the switches are in the auto mode and the light is off. If consumers fail to disconnect the power at the circuit breaker and make contact with both terminals inside the socket while replacing the bulbs, there is a risk of an electric shock.

Serious Head Injuries to Infants Continue Due to Falls from Bumbo Baby Seats Used on Elevated Surfaces

Due to the serious risk of injury to babies, CPSC and Bumbo International Trust of South Africa (“Bumbo International”) are urging parents and caregivers to never place Bumbo Baby Seats on tables, countertops, chairs or other raised surfaces. Infants aged 3-10 months old have fallen out of the Bumbo seat and suffered skull fractures and other injuries.

CPSC and Bumbo International are aware of at least 45 incidents in which infants fell out of a Bumbo seat while it was being used on an elevated surface which occurred after an October 25, 2007 voluntary recall of the product. The recall required that new warnings be placed on the seat to deter elevated usage of the product. Since the recall, CPSC and Bumbo International have learned that 17 of those infants, ages 3-10 months, suffered skull fractures. These incidents and injuries involved both recalled Bumbo seats and Bumbo seats sold after the recall with the additional on-product warnings.

Diamond Crystal Brands Inc. of Savannah, GA has issued an allergen alert for undeclared milk in 12-ounce GFS® sugar canisters that were inadvertently filled with non-dairy coffee creamer. These items were shipped in 24-can cases labeled GFS® non-dairy coffee creamer. Non-dairy coffee creamer contains sodium caseinate, which is a milk derivative. Approximately 27,000 Wolfgang Puck Electric Reversible Tri-Grill / Griddles have been recalled by W.P. Appliances Inc., of Hollywood, FL because a problem with the wiring in these electric grills / griddles can pose an electrical shock hazard, in addition to melting and overheating.
The recalled appliances were sold exclusively by The Home Shopping Network (HSN) between April 30, 2011 and May 6, 2011 for about $100. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled combination grills/griddles and contact W.P. Appliances at (855) 666-0478 for instructions on returning the grills/griddles for a full refund.

Description: This recall includes Wolfgang Puck brand combination electric grills/griddles with dual thermostatic controls and model number BRTGG010. The grills measure about 14.5 inches in width, 11 inches in depth and 6.5 inches in height. The model number is located on an ETL/Intertek foil sticker label affixed to the bottom of the unit. The stainless steel grills/griddles have “Wolfgang Puck Bistro Collection” stamped on the front of the unit next to the control dials. They feature a stainless steel handle used to compress the top and bottom grill plates.

New York Firm Recalls Broiled Chicken Liver Products Linked to Salmonellosis Illnesses

Schreiber Processing Corporation, a Maspeth, N.Y. establishment, is recalling an undetermined amount of broiled chicken liver products that are linked to a cluster of Salmonellosis illnesses in New Jersey and New York, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. FSIS is continuing to work with states, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) during this ongoing investigation.

The illnesses are linked to the consumption of broiled chicken livers which appear to be ready-to-eat, but are in fact partially cooked and need to be fully cooked before consumption. Illnesses are also linked to chopped liver made from this product at retail stores. The outbreak strain of Salmonella Heidelberg was isolated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets from samples of broiled chicken livers from the establishment, and chopped chicken livers produced at retail from these livers. These products would have been repackaged and will not bear the original packaging information.

Golden Glen Creamery Recalls Raw Cheddar Because of Possible Health Risk

Golden Glen Creamery of Bow, WA has recalled Raw Cheddar because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.  Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

To date, no illnesses have been reported.
