9,500 Browning Air Pistols Recalled: Can Fire Unexpectedly

Recalled Air PistolUmarex USA has recalled approximately 9,500 Browning 800 Mag Air Pistols because the safety may not prevent the gun from firing. No injuries have been reported as of the date of this recall.

The recall includes all Browning 800 Mag Air pistols. They are black and measure 18″ x 7″. The Browning logo and “800 Mag” are printed on the top of the air pistol’s barrel block.

These recalled air guns were sold at sporting goods stores and gun shops in the US from July, 2006 to February, 2008 for about $180.

Consumers are advised to stop using the air pistols immediately, and to make sure they are unloaded. Consumers should also contact Umarex USA at (866) 503-3389 for instructions on returning the product for a free repair. Umarex USA will engrave repaired pistols with a “P” on the left side of the receiver, forward of the plastic end cap. Until repaired, consumers should safely store the unloaded pistol open or uncocked.
