Ohio Firm Recalls Various Marinated Beef Products Due to Misbranding and Undeclared Allergens

Malcolm Meats, of Northwood, OH has recalled about 4,530 pounds of marinated beef products because of misbranding and undeclared allergens. The products contain known allergens, wheat and soy, which are not declared on the label, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

FDA Warns Healthcare Workers About Transvaginal Surgical Mesh

The FDA has released a warning to medical professionals about serious complications with transvaginal surgical mesh repair of pelvic organ prolapse (POP). Although patients have been complaining by the hundreds about their surgical mesh complications, the FDA had previously reported these problems as “rare”. That stance has changed as the FDA has now received thousands of reports of “adverse events” associated with surgical mesh procedures.

McNeil Consumer Healthcare, Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc., is recalling at the retail level one product lot (60,912 bottles) of TYLENOL®, Extra Strength Caplets, 225 count bottles, distributed in the U.S. The recalled product was manufactured in February, 2009. McNeil is taking this action following a small number of odor reports, including musty, moldy odor. The uncharacteristic musty, moldy odor has been linked to the presence of trace amounts of a chemical known as 2,4,6-tribromoanisole (TBA).
