P&G Consultant May Have Delayed Research on Denture Cream Dangers

ABC News Fixodent ScreenshotUS Recall News has received several emails and comments lately from people who are concerned about a possible link between zinc found in denture creams like Fixodent, and certain neurological health problems. ABC News has done a stellar job reporting on this (and uncovering some troubling information) recently, but we would also like to point consumers to a story we published almost two years ago about the potential dangers of using excessive denture cream containing zinc.

What we didn’t know at the time, and what the recent ABC News report has revealed, is that the research linking denture creams with neurological disorders may have been purposefully delayed by a doctor who peer reviewed the research – and who just happens to have been at consultant for Procter & Gamble, makers of Fixodent.

Read more about the research reported in the Neurology Journal in our April 6, 2009 article titled: FDA Should Warn About Zinc Poisoning From Denture Creams. We also mention excessive use of denture creams as possible causes of the following symptoms: Numbness, Tingling in the Arms and Hands, Weakness, and Loss of Balance.
