Is Tylenol going to refund or replace the drops we have already bought? These things are not cheap and we should be reimbursed.

  2. teisha on September 24th, 2009 7:05 pm

this is bad when the medicine we give our children for colds can make them sicker! my children have already had a cold this year and we have tylenol the bubble yum flavor.so what can we do to get a refund or a coupon for a new bottle thanks alot!

  5. Lisa Ronco on September 24th, 2009 7:49 pm

Luckily the one we have on hand is not on the recall list. I can say the customer service representative was very helpful and knowledgeable. It was an almost 10 minute wait, but their representative was helpful and comforting.

  6. Kim on September 24th, 2009 8:21 pm

Refund on recalls – I called Tylenol and they said to check the products you have at home against their UPC Code recall list. If you have one of the products on the list, call Tylenol back and let them know. They will send you a coupon for another bottle of Tylenol.

  7. Jennifer on September 24th, 2009 8:47 pm

I’m cheap, too. Target brand is exactly what we have been using. I know some off-brand drugs are still made by the name-brand manufacturer. I wonder if this is the case for Target infant’s Tylenol.

  8. Niki on September 24th, 2009 9:29 pm

I have two bottles of infant drops that fall into the categories listed above. How do I know when they were manufactured? I have lot#s and exp. dates but thats it. I wish they would provide that information. Otherwise how would we know? I don’t have a UPC either because I tossed out the boxes.

WE HAVE BEEN USING TYLENOL PLUS COLD &COUGH… TYLENOL ACETAMINOPHEN ORAL SUSPENSION FAITHFULLY FOR SOME TIME AND
COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY MY CHILD’S COULD KEEPS COMING BACK.
CHILDREN DON’T ALWAYS SAY HOW THEY REALLY FEEL. THEY CAN’T
SLEEP AND COMPLAIN ABOUT THEIR NOSES. MY CHILD HAS ANOTHER
COLD AND WE JUST BOUGHT ANOTHER BOTTLE OF COLD MEDICINE, THINKING IT’S THE BEST ON THE MARKET. HOW COULD YOU PUT
( 21 ) DIFFERENT MEDICATIONS ON THE SHELF THAT ARE HARMFUL TO
THEM AND CASUALLY ANNOUNCE THE DANGER TO THEM?? I WOULD LIKE SATISFACTION AT ONCE. SINCE MY CHILD STAYS WITH HER MOM / ME- I
HAVE PURCHASED ( 4 ) BOTTLES TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE MEDICATION FOR HER IN BOTH HOMES . RESPONSE PLEASE!!! I DON;T
KNOW WHERE THIS MESSAGE IS GOING SO I AM GOING TO SEND ANOTHER ONE TO http://WWW.TYLENOL.COM ALSO.
    WILLIE GALLMAN / EDWARD GALLMAN

  17. Kathy on September 24th, 2009 11:40 pm

I went to the tylenol link and saw nothing about the recall or how to get a refund. GRRR! I hate recalls.

  18. Lisa on September 24th, 2009 11:55 pm

Commenting on Teisha’s remark from Sep. 24th: “this is bad when the medicine we give our children for colds can make them sicker! my children have already had a cold this year and we have tylenol the bubble yum flavor.so what can we do to get a refund or a coupon for a new bottle thanks alot!”

Not to pick on Teisha, but in the same breath she laments on how the medicines seem to be making our kids sicker, not better AND then asks how she can get a coupon fro a new bottle…

Maybe we all should be rethinking if all the medicines we stuff into our kids are really necessary. Is it worth cutting a day or two off a cold if giving our kids contaminated medicines is possibly the price?

  19. Michelle on September 25th, 2009 1:05 am

If this recall is like all the others, it will be the stores paying the price, and not the company. The majority of recalled products require stores to refund the purchase price, but there is no reimbursement for the stores. Many recalls, if the manufacturer offers anything to the stores in return, is just a fraction of what it costs to put it on the shelves, and is so time consuming and/or costly to the merchants they don’t bother. My family owns a small grocery business, and we have been hit hard by recalls such as this. I’m not saying people shouldn’t be returning the recalled items, but it seems as though there should be better financial reimbursement by those at fault.

  20. Kay on September 25th, 2009 2:57 am

Look at the bottle of tylenol and you will see EXP: and LOT:

You need to check the lot number to make sure it is not one of them listed. It is very easy to do. You don’t need the box to check the info, it is marked on the bottle itself.

  21. Judy on September 25th, 2009 3:54 am

Just to be sure I am reading the list correctly, my two bottles of infant drops are NOT on the list. Am I right? Lot SMM008 AND Lot SDM100. Very important to me as my 10 months old was just diagnosed today with the flu and we are using these drops. Thank you.

  22. lanie on September 25th, 2009 4:14 am

does this have anything to do with equate childrens pain relief??

  23. melissa on September 25th, 2009 12:28 pm

From what i have learned working for 3 pharmacies: store brands are required to have the equal ingredients as the comparable brand to be stated that they are comparable to Tylenol or Ibprofen or whatever the product may be. My guess is the only way the store brands would be affected by this recall would be if they were manufactured in the same facility as tylenol and I don’t think they would be, most labels i have seen have said that it’s not manufactured by the makers of the name brand.
Also: bottles of medicine have to be clearly labeled of the expiration date, as well as the lot number. The lot number is the code for the manufacture of when the product was produced. If you find the product you own on the list look to the left and see if your lot number is there.
Tylenol is going to have a lot of correcting to do and that is why the recall is being stated….

  24. Nicole on September 25th, 2009 12:32 pm

Just tried calling Tylenol (820 am Est). The are swamped and will not take the call. It doesn’t even give you the option of waiting on hold to ask questions. Grrr

I have a sample of Infant drops from the Doc and I have the Target brand. I want to know if Tylenol is the Co-packer for Target Tylenol. My daughter is teething and I need to know!!

  25. Cheryl Hersey on September 25th, 2009 2:49 pm

In response to Ianie’s question re the “Equate” brand of Tylenol, I would like to know the answer to that as well; I have eight grandchildren with a ninth on the way, and their parents usually use store-brands to save a bit of money. How about it, Tylenol–should we be concerned about any store-brands also manufactured by you?

  26. Janice on September 25th, 2009 2:50 pm

Tylenol is being absolutely redicilous about this! The above people are very correct – they will not even take your call. A computer tells you to check the website and hangs up on you. Hopefully the store will refund the meds! I can’t say I’ll be buying tylenol brand again! Mostly due to the very poor customer service.

  27. Kristine Crooks on September 25th, 2009 3:37 pm

OUR SON has Pheumonia! He has fought several different kinds of bacterial infections for the past month. guess what??????/ Using this product!!!!!!!! He is 14 months old outrageous!

  28. Heather on September 25th, 2009 4:33 pm

I LOVE that although my infant Tylenol product is one of those that was recalled, the number is either busy or states to call back due to high call volume. Then when you do get through, states to see the website for information, which has no instructions as to how to go about the reimbursement process, and is where I got the number in the first place! I guess they figure you’ll stop caring about the $7 and give up if they waste enough of your time. I lost my job due to the recession at the end of January, and don’t have the heart to just waste money while a corporate giant makes more. They know they have us though if it’s what the pediatrician recommends for your child. So frustrating and such TERRIBLE disregard for the customer! Uggh! :o (

  29. Brandi on September 25th, 2009 4:34 pm

You know what everybody…. Things happen… I am the mother of 3 and they all just got over the swine flu, so they have been useing the tylonal flu. I am sure the reason you cant get through to the company is because there are milloins of people just like you calling at the same time. CALM DOWN!!! If your child is showing symtoms and has been taking the meds, then call the doctor, and you will probably have a law suit, but nothing is going to happen instantly. Also, alot of the questions asked were answered by someone from the company earlier in the thread… if you are so concerned then read!!!! Just stop and think for a minuet about things…. look how far technology has brought us with meds and cures, at one time, haroin was a cough medician!!!!

  30. Sol on September 25th, 2009 5:02 pm

My son was diagnosed with slight pneumonia last Aug 31. I was giving him Children’s TYLENOL Plus Cough & Runny Nose 4oz. Cherry prior to that diagonistic.. I now want to believe that it could be the possible reason why my son is not getting well. We went to the doctor again on Sept 16 because he is very weak and has low fever everyday .

  31. jennifer on September 25th, 2009 5:07 pm

I just called it took about 15 mins to talk to someone and they said that they are safe to use..The bad ones did not get to the stores yet…Im still scared to use the ones we have..

  32. Amber on September 25th, 2009 5:08 pm

What the heck. I literally just got back from Target w/a bottle of Tylenol because my 11 year old uses it for her Ortho pain. The lot # isn’t on the list BUT do I really want to take the chance? I think my husband is right… all natural is the way to go – vitamins, water, etc… I can’t even think about it anymore. I am returning this bottle and NEVER getting it again. I just won’t take the chance.

  33. Sam on September 25th, 2009 5:42 pm

WOW! SO many people on here worried about a 6 dollar refund?? I think people should more worried if their kids will be affected by this and get sick or not!

Who cares about a damn refund, this product is probably mostly used up. Do you keep the box or the bottles of used product?????? If it was manufactured over a year and a half ago, you can bet there was probably a bottle sitting in my cabinet that got used, God forbid. Why do they wait so long to tell people???????? Why aren’t they held accountable even for the delay? Why isn’t our government and FDA regulating this stuff and watching out for people and I am not talking about saying OOOOPS 2 YEARS LATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a drug-free tip for flu prevention. If you’re around young kids, I have a key prevention tip: My child came home from school the other day saying that they learned to cough and sneeze into their elbow with Germy Wormie, and I was totally taken aback. I always covered with my hands. But I went to the website and now I get it, hands touch, elbows don’t!! Kids can touch 300 surfaces in 1/2 hour and they hate to wash their hands. This is a simple thing that can make a huge difference. Also, there is a DVD the kids love, and it teaches them in a fun way other necessary hygiene habits, as well as the elbow cough.

  44. Krissy on September 26th, 2009 10:38 pm

What do you do if your child already took the tylenol that’s been contaminated? I checked the lot #s and one matches a bottle that I was giving my son for a fever.

Here is a list of recalls. Although it prolly won’t do much help I see there really isn’t much to do except trash it. I check out one of sites and didn’t give me the info that I was looking for. I have a granddaughter(who is only 2 months old) and just gotten shots and picked up TYLENOL. Wish I didn’t now.

[...] Cepacia hit our collective radar with a thud last week, as we learned of a massive recall of Children and Infant Tylenol, but the news reports, ours included, didn’t explain much about B. cepacia other than that it [...]

I just got off the phone with JJ’s reps and after being on hold for about 5minutes i got a full refund of what i paid for the tylenol, i have heard alot of reports for children not getting better and getting worse after taking tylenol, i have an 11month old who i was giving the infant drops to for teething and now he’s got a horrible cold, not sure if it’s related but think it’s kinda funny how he was fine until being on this med for a few days, i had boughten the drops almost 9months ago and had just opened them up here a couple weeks ago.. hope everyones gets there issues resolved

Cannot call the phone number being given out for Tylenol as they are receiving too many calls, so no calls being answered. Thats ok, except the alternative is being directed to go to the http://www.tylenol.com web site, but that site only has the information you show on your web site………call the 1-800 number. Now what?

My story is a little different from the rest of yours, but I really want to share it. On the morning of Sept.14th I got up in the morning to check on our son Zander and I found him in his crib already gone. I had given him a dose of Infant tylenol at 3:30pm the afternoon before and another dose at 8:30pm. We aren’t sure if this recall has anything to do with it, but its been on my heart from the beginning and I can’t seem to let it go. I finished up an already opened bottle of tylenol and then gave him some out of the other one. I did just look up what they said was the raw unfinised product within the tylenol and its B. Cepacia Bacteria. I’ve looked that up as well, and I don’t like what I’m reading. Not sure if this is just a coincidence or not. We still don’t have anything back yet from the tox. testing, but we will be calling them tomorrow morning with the information that I just found out.

Nadea I am terribly sorry to hear about your son Zander’s passing. I hope you find out everything you need to know in order to provide some closure, although I can’t imagine the pain it must cause.

    With sympathy,

    Everett

    Everett~

Thanks so much for your kind words, we are hoping for some closure as well. We just called the Dr.s office this morning to let him know about what we found and hope that they will be testing for this. The pain stinks and the hole is huge, but we are trying to fill it up with God & the Holy Spirit.

    STOP RECALLING THINGS!

Thanks mothers for all your comments and concerns from one mom to the next. It is very scary as my son cannot take motrin due to allergic reaction. But even if u don’t have the boxes the Lot#s are on the bottles itself. Looks like most of the recalls are SBM’s; SCM’s; and SDM’s follow by the three digit numbers. Try to remember that when buying your tylenols. Nadea and others sorry for your lost. Can’t imagine what u going thru; hope u find peace and closure after the toxicology report.

Have something to share?
