House of Representatives Gives FDA $150 Million in New Funds

The House of Representatives approved $150 million in new money for the Food and Drug Administration last night. The FDA will be earmarking $67 million of those funds for the Centers for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), which is responsible for food recall alerts like the recent one involving Tomatoes tainted with Salmonella.
