Summary: TOYOTA IS RECALLING 662,178 MY 2003-2004 COROLLA, COROLLA MATRIX AND PONTIAC VIBE VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH POWER WINDOWS. THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER DOOR GLASS BOLTS MAY LOOSEN AND COME OFF, CAUSING THE DOOR GLASS TO SEPARATE FROM THE WINDOW REGULATOR. DUE TO THE COMPONENTS BECOMING LOOSE AND POSSIBLY RATTLING, AN ABNORMAL NOISE MAY BE HEARD FROM THE DRIVER AND /OR FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WHEN OPERATING THE POWER WINDOWS.
Consequence: THE DOOR GLASS MAY SEPARATE FROM THE WINDOW REGULATOR, BIND AND SHATTER DURING OPERATION OF THE POWER WINDOWS, CAUSING DRIVER DISTRACTION AND/OR INJURY.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER DOOR GLASS BOLTS WITH NEWLY DESIGNED BOLTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING APRIL 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-888-270-9371.

    I have a pontiac vibe that had window problems. First the window wouldn’t go up and down right which tore up my window tint then the window just shattered causing me to get cut. We took it in and the dealer fixed, replacing the window but not the tinting. Then supposedly, the motor on the same window quite causing me to pay over 300.00 dollars. Now the drivers window is ripping up my tinting again. What is going on? I am disabled and cannot afford to keep paying for the same things. Are the back windows next? I was going to purchase another Vibe but now I’m having more than second thoughts. i’ve already lost the tint on the passenger side window,now the drivers side. Can you help?
