Four Chinese Jailed for Involvement in Mattel Toy Recall

Four suspects have been jailed / detained by Chinese Police for their involvement in the recall of Chinese-made toys under the Mattel brand.

The four detainees are alleged to have provided Lida Plastic Toys, Co. Ltd with the paint that did not meet lead safety standards. Lida Plastic Toys was contracted to manufacturer the toys by Mattel. Zhang Shuhong, then in charge of Lida Plastic Toys, committed suicide after the recall.

According to the China View news network over 300 Chinese toy makers have had their business licenses revoked or suspended in a national quality overhaul in China.
